1. Switch to a Covered Litter Box
To lessen the smell of your cat’s feces, switch to a covered litter box. Enclosed spaces work effectively for containing the smell.
2. Try a New Cat Litter
Your litter will eventually pick up the smell of the pee and poop in the box. I advise cleaning the entire litter box and changing the litter once every two weeks.
3. Scoop the Litter Box more Frequently
At least once or twice a day, litter boxes should be cleaned out, and it’s best if you can do it as soon as your cat is done.
4. Add another Litter Box
As your cat buries their waste, the boxes may eventually become scratched from their repeated use. It’s easy for bacteria to hide in these scratches and establish a foul smell. Be sure to replace the boxes on a regular basis.
5. Use Baking Soda or Litter Box Deodorizer
If you’re experiencing smell issues, consider adding a little baking soda to the bottom of the litter box each week before adding fresh litter or putting an open package of baking soda next to the box. This can assist in absorbing some odors.
6. Move the Litter Box to a New Location
No matter where the box is, too much change can frighten the cat, who may stop using the box totally. Try to replicate the old environment as closely as you can in the new litter box position.
